The first DLP-based rear-projection TVs are out, but they're very expensive relative to CRT-based RPTVs. For example, the Hitachi 55DMX01W, a 55-inch 16:9 lists for $13,000 or so. Compare that to, say, the Toshiba 57HX81, which lists for $3500. Sure, the Hitachi may be better, but it's over 3-times the price! Of course, the prices for DLP-based RPTVs will come down. In theory, they ought to be cheaper than CRTs, since the parts are simpler.
