Disc Players

Updated 26-Apr-2002 05:14:25 PM

The Microsoft Xbox game machine makes a decent CD and DVD player. You need the DVD Movie Playback Kit ($35) that provides a DVD-specific remote control. Optionally, you can also get the High Definition AV Pack ($20), which provides component-video output (480p, 720p, and 1080i). However, those two accessories will cost about $55, and you can get a whole DVD player for around $100. The question is, is the XBOX better than a $100 DVD player? I have no idea.

For some other issues with using an Xbox as a DVD player, read this Home Theater Forum post.
